2010 Elections: Statewide Races
Federal Races Statewide Races N.C. Senate Races N.C. House Races
COUNCIL OF STATE: North Carolina elects the Governor, Lt. Governor and other Council of State officers every four years concurrent with the presidential election. These positions carry four-year terms. The Governor is constitutionally limited to two consecutive four-year terms.
STATE JUDICIAL: North Carolina elects Supreme Court Justices and Court of Appeals Judges in non-partisan, statewide elections. Appellate court judges serve eight-year terms and stand for election on a staggered schedule. In 2010 only one of the seven seats on the N.C Supreme Court is up for election, as are four of the 15 seats on the State Court of Appeals.
2012 Candidate Questionnaires:
In March, the NC FreeEnterprise Foundation sent candidate questionnaires to all candidates running for Governor, Council of State offices, and the N.C. Appellate Courts. The candidates’ responses to our questionnaires are available here.
✦ Scanned Questionnaires: Click on the “Q” beside a candidate’s name to download and view a scanned copy of the candidate’s completed questionnaire. (If a candidate does not have a “Q” by their name, they did not complete and return a candidate questionnaire.)
Please Note: All candidates were asked to respond to one or more open-ended questions and were invited to provide additional comments or explanations for their answers if the answer options provided did not enable them to accurately convey their positions or opinions. Please refer the the candidates’ scanned questionnaires to view responses to open-ended questions and to see additional comments.
